The Motion That Makes the Difference
Understanding the difference between a massage gun and an oscillation device like Pocket Physio®
When you look at two handheld devices — a large massage gun and the small Pocket Physio® — they might appear to do the same thing.
But the way they move is entirely different.
And that difference defines how they feel, what you can use them on and where they fit in your day.
Massage guns use force.
A massage gun works by moving in and out of the body’s surface, delivering intense, repetitive pulses. This is called a percussive motion. It’s designed for higher force and large movement — several millimetres of travel with each strike. That’s why they often feel powerful and deep, and can be uncomfortable to use around smaller or more sensitive areas. They are most suitable for large muscle groups.
Pocket Physio® uses oscillation - designed for comfort and control
Pocket Physio® doesn’t punch in and out — it moves in a small, controlled rhythm.
The head remains in contact with the skin, producing gentle vibrations and oscillations rather than impact. The frequency is based on scientific research studies that show the positive effect of vibration on muscle relaxation. The movement is gentle and consistent, spreading evenly across the muscle's surface.
It provides smooth mechanical stimulation that’s easy to control and comfortable even for sensitive areas such as the neck, jaw or near bones. The compact size and quiet operation make it suitable for use in more everyday settings, whether at home, at work, or before and after activity.
Care should not need to feel like combat.
